Independent verification is a requirement for the generation of W+ Credits. It provides transparency, rigour, and quantified women-benefit units that contribute towards SDG 5 goals for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment, Climate Financing, and Corporate Social Responsibility targets.
Verification has enabled project developers and organisations to achieve W+ Standard certification, claim the results of their activities for women's empowerment, and generate additional income through the sale of their W+ Credits — creating a new source of funding reinvested directly into women's empowerment activities.
What is the W+ Standard?
THE W+ STANDARD
The W+ Standard is a unique certification label developed by WOCAN that endorses projects creating increased social and economic benefits for women. It measures women's empowerment across six domains and issues W+ Credits that can be sold to corporations, investors, and individual buyers. At least 20% of all revenues from sold W+ Credits must be shared directly with women's groups.
W+ Credits can be sold to corporations, investors, and individual buyers to support SDG 5, Climate Financing, and CSR commitments.
